You know you wanna bid on one....

All the decks from last weekends show are still up for auction. Put your money where your mouth is HERE. Proceeds benefit the awesome Stay True organization located out in Philadephia.

And yep, the pink elephant belongs to me. I've been experimenting with encaustic methods over the past few months as a means to keep my artistic ADD at bay. Nothing keeps me more focused than attempting to conquer something new. Believe it or not, painting with wax lends itself well to my limited (read: NON-EXISTENT) studio space and time constraints. I can stop or start painting at the turn of a griddle knob! And get this, I can just leave my brushes in the wax! AMAZING!!

Philly. Here. I. Come.

Good cause. Good wood. Good gawd. They've done it again.
You can find me, and my board, in Philly.
Back Again
I got a sneak peek at some of the other decks when i was dropping mine off....socksknockoffable.

Oh Carson Daly...I Hate YOU.

Oft' times up still up at say, three, four, five in the morning. Oft' times, since cable is outrageously expensive, I watch random (not quite broadcast anymore) television. EVERY TIME. EVERY TIME. EVERY TIME. I have flipped on Last Call with Carson Daly he has managed to show some random, obscure band/artist that I have adored prior to his 'discovery'. Then BOOM. They're everywhere. His latest victim...Ida Maria. I ADORE this girl.

Biting the Bullet...

Once upon a time i swore i wouldn't do this...

But I've started doing graphic design and marketing work for the bar i work at. When you see the new event coordinator trying to create flyers out of Microsoft Word you gotta step in. You just gotta. I don't want to be embarrassed to work there, right?

Thank you Katie and Ileana for lending your faces to a good cause.

MICROSOFT WORD!!!! Really now? What is this 1990?

As per usual, the art battle was epic. The masses came, they saw, we created. Big kudos to my boy Davis and his buddy Vince for keeping it going.

Much love my fellow battlers!

'Til next time kids....keep livin the dream!

She seems kinda sketchy.....

Let's play catch up.
(Guess who got a scanner.)

Drink and Draw pt. Deux was awesome...

I almost forgot what 'normal' people did in their free time.
Like dress up as the roman version of star wars, drink Colt45 forty ouncers, and draw.

Aye wey....

Oh ADBUSTERS...(you still have my heart)

Check it...

This article proves a relatively interesting point.
Will counter-assimilation and uber savvy marketing destroy us all?
And we wonder why all of us twenty somethings are feeling so lost.

Fashion, music, art, etc. are being lumped into this great big middle ground-above all- neutral and broadly appealing to the masses, dictated by the market.

Last I knew, wasn't that supposed to work the other way around?
Supply in demand? Sure, but now they're creating the demand too....for a generation who's obviously a little than more uncomfortable with the "hipster" label they've been dealt. (Can't imagine why...)

Aye tipo....

...strikes a chord.

Emily Haines from the group Metric (whom i've recently come to adore) spills a little inspiration.

Leave a message with my agent. (heehee).
I'm moving to guadalajara.

New Years Resolutions....uh oh.

Its a new year. Yeah yeah...

But goals are nice things. And as always. I have lots.

1. Dream BIG.
2. ACT bigger.
3. Keep the social animal at bay.
3. Succumb to the necessity of technology.
4. Start putting IT together. One screen, squeegee and bucket of ink at a time.
5. Have patience.
6. Have mercy.
7. Commit one act of common sense daily.
8. Convince myself that intangibles are valid.
9. Move. Far. Far. Away.
10. Burn bridges.
11. Realize that that indeed-in some circles- i am the token artsty chick.
12. Funnel frustration.
13. Continue my unrequited romance with articles of the past.
14. REALIZE being a grown up.
15. Stop 'acting' like one.
16. Obsess over constructive things.
17. Realize sometimes the horse is just D E A D.
18. Recognize preexisting obligations.
19. Break those that belong to anyone by myself.
20. Elaborate on my niche.
21. Contract. Expand. Growth is like breathing.
22. Consider that spinning wheels will wear themselves thin.
23. Recycle. Frequently. Via thriftstores.
24. Embrace addictions. Habits. Vices. In moderation.
25. Reduce bedroom activities to sleeping only.
26. Love the people that bring out the best in me.
27. Fight artistic paralysis.
28. Understand that i am just NOT a morning person.
29. Recognize that every destination involves a journey.
30. Embrace it.

But we already knew this, right?

Sometimes it nice to know that even our heroes struggle (internally, with the economy, etc.)and can give some great advice on how to get your ass in gear.
